    I truely believe that the Wii will win the console war this holday season due to a supply that is 4 times as much as the PS3s supply. The Wii is also much cheaper allowing a more affordable console to buy for those people who don’t really want to spend a fortune on a PS3. The new innovative design and gameplay will also push the Wii towards record sales this Christmas. Nintendo is doing something right!

    The Wii will take the holiday market, for several reasons:

    1) The Nintendo DS has brought in thousands of new gamers who will recognize and be loyal to the Nintendo brand and train of thought.

    2) Sony has lost many fans (myself included) because of the Rootkit debacle, the battery recall, the unproven and expensive technology of Blu-Ray, and general lameness in the PR department regarding the PS3.

    3) Supply. Supply. Supply. VG Cats’ Veganomics cartoon had it nailed down pat.

    4) Price. When parents of a whiny (insert age here) year-old who wants a PS3 walk into a store to find out that they’re sold out, and will be for a good long time, they’re going to look at the Wii’s lower price and higher availability and go with it.

    5) Innovation. The Wii-mote is just the surface of a fundamental shift in the thinking of Nintendo Corp. over the past few years. Combine that with the fact that this paradigm shift has not lost them some of their best thinkers (Miyamoto) or partners (Capcom and Ubisoft) and you’re on to what may be a new/old trend in gaming - it’s the games, Jim, not the graphics.

    6) Nostalgia. I got an NES when I was 4. I’ve been playing video games for nearly two decades now, and the Virtual Console is the legal answer to my dreams of playing all my favorite old games on my new 46″ TV.

    There ya go.

    The Wii will outsell the PS3 this holiday season. The supply of Nintendo’s Wii will be much greater, and I feel that people are more excited about the Wii than they are about PS3 or XBOX 360. Not only that but the PS3 is going to experience stiff competition from the already established, and cheaper XBOX 360. I don’t think this competition from XBOX 360 will effect the Wii that much because they produced a completely different, and innovative product.

    Yeah, I just came back from my camp out at Toys R Us for a Wii preorder. Over 100 people on line, the first 30 were for PS3. Everyone else was for Wii or Tickle Me Elmo. The store only got 8 PS3s in and 40 Wiis in. I was able to get a Wii and an Elmo :).

    Wii and TMX Elmo?? You rock! I am tempted to spend $50 at Toys R Us to nab a life-size Dora the Explorer or Diego for $5.99.

    Wii, simple numbers, there are going to be 4 times as many wiis on the market this opening quarter, they will both sell out, its all about production;)

    Yes I agree to all of the Wii votes. I think that the wii may have different highlights to drag people in to buying it that beat the PS3 methods.The Wii is fun for anyone and its different. Nintendo took a chance making this console but it will suceed in the end. The PS3 just follows the same next gen upgrades as we have for 20 years. The Wii is amazing and it has my vote.

    I think it is as simple as supply. Both machines will sell out and be unavailable for in store pickup after the initial shipment. Any supplemental shipments will sell just as quickly. Whoever brings more to market will win and it appears as though Wii will be it. Things will start to get real interesting after the holidays when stock amounts will rise and the demand met in full and demand is the true measure of a products success.
